How Do You Play PS2 Backups On A Slim PS2 Without A Modchip?
Unless modified, a PlayStation 2 (PS2) console will not play backup copies of game discs. However, with just a screwdriver, duct tape and SwapMagic DVD, you can effectively alter your slim version PlayStation 2 to play backup copies of your games. It is important to note that this procedure is intended to be used only to play backup copies of games you own; if your original copy of a game is scratched or broken, this procedure will allow you to play backup copies in your PS2. Remove the six screw covers and their corresponding screws on the back of the PS2. Unclip and open the PS2 above the controller ports. This will allow the PS2 to be separated into two equal halves, opening like a door. Locate the disc brake. This is on the top half of the PS2 at the rear of the disc drive. Unscrew the brake and remove the spring as well as the brake (which will be located on the inside of the disc-drive). Find the two disc sensors on the inside of the PS2.
