Mousetrap is an easy game that can be introduced to five to seven-year-olds at birthday parties, Cub Scout meetings, church groups, or anywhere there are several children with a few minutes of idle time. Ideally, there will be a minimum of 12 children to play this game, but don’t let the number of kids available stop you from starting up a game of mousetrap. Divide the group of children into two groups. The first group will be the trap and consists of three to five players. The second group, the remaining children will make up the “chain of mice”. Set the trap by having the children playing the trap join hands in a circle somewhere in the play area then hold their hands up high. This is the mouse trap. Choose a leader for the mice and everyone lines up behind the leader. The leader then leads the mice around the room or other play area. Whatever motions the leader makes the line of mice make.
