Getting back to the golf course after enduring rotator cuff surgery is an outstanding goal. However, rotator cuff surgery is a major endeavor, and you need to go through a long run of physical therapy before you can get back to your sport. Rushing back to golf (or any sport) too quickly can cause further damage. Begin exercises that will help your range of motion in the first week after surgery. One of the best things you can do is to use a broom and to pantomime the motion of sweeping up. Hold the broom midway down its length and swing it 10 inches to the right and 10 inches to the left with the shoulder that had surgery for about 30 seconds at a time. Take a break for about 30 seconds and repeat the exercise again. Do shoulder rolls to rebuild strength and range of motion in your shoulder. Hold two-pound dumbbells in each arm and shrug them up to your shoulders. Roll them forward before lowering them to the starting position. Do this 10 times, take a 30-second break, and then repeat
