Even a backyard gardener with limited space can grow raspberry bushes. They can be placed in large containers and set out on a deck, patio, or balcony. Their soil, water, and nutrient requirements in a container are the same as if they were planted directly in the ground. They do require more pruning, however, than raspberry bushes planted directly in an orchard. Combine potting soil and organic compost. Check the pH of the soil; it should be between 6.0 and 6.5.
