Pampas grass is an easy-to-grow ornamental grass native to South America, Chile, Brazil and Argentina. It requires full sun and good drainage. Before planting it, make sure you allow a lot of room, as it grows fast and can take over areas quite quickly. In warmer climates, it thrives so well and spreads so quickly that it can be considered a nuisance plant; in colder climates, it is best planted in a container so that it can be brought in out of freezing temperatures, as it is not cold tolerant.
