That means you will have succulent strawberries for your recipes all summer long. Here are some tips on how to plant the everbearing strawberry. In spring when the ground warms up plant the everbearing strawberries. Southern states should plant strawberries in the fall. Grow strawberries in zones 5-9. Purchase dehydrated bare root strawberries or nursery grown potted strawberries. Prior to planting the dehydrated bare root strawberries, place them in a bucket of water. Allow the strawberries to take in the water for a minimum of one hour. Select your growing site. For small areas such as a sunny balcony or patio, you may want to grow strawberries in pots.
