I have never planted just bulbs throughout my garden. I first planted the bulbs and then planted my Perennials around the bulbs so that as the bulb plant is dying down, the Perennial is coming up. Where I live, only certain bulbs can stay in the ground because it gets way too cold here. I don’t deal with things like Dahlias because it’s so much work to every year dig them out and store them. If you are adding more bulbs, you may want to mark where your existing bulbs are when they emerge in the spring. Then you will know where not to dig so you won’t disturb the roots.
