How Do You Plant Ashwagandha?
Ashwagandha has been grown for centuries in India and grows quite well in many parts of the U.S., especially in the warmer southern states. The root is dried, ground up and eaten for its medicinal qualities, and is a popular treatment for male impotency. The leaves are sometimes dried and smoked for a relaxing feeling. Ashwagandha seeds are easily grown and will tolerate a wide variety of soil conditions and climate, although warm, dry climates are best. Gently press ashwagandha seeds into a Jiffy pot or into a small pot filled with mulch. Brush soil over the seeds you have planted (no more than three seeds per pot spaced at least 1/4 inch apart) but do not compact the soil. Spray the soil with water until it is thoroughly damp but not drenched. Place the pots in a sunny location where they will get approximately half an hour of direct sunlight each day.
