How Do You Plant A Strawberry Jar?
Growing your own herbs, you will not only add new dimensions to your cooking but also fragrant and beautiful foliage and flowers to your garden. Strawberry jars provide the well-drained conditions that herbs need and give you the opportunity to grow herbs in a small area. Try some of the many herbs with variegated or unusually colored foliage. Choose a frost proof pot large enough to hold several plants, but not so large that it will be too heavy to move when full of soil mix. Select the herbs to plant. Most herbs flourish in containers, but always check the labels to ensure that the plants will not grow too large. Mint, for example, soon outgrows a container, while rosemary may grow into a sizable shrub unless it is regularly trimmed. Fill the jar with soil-based or soil-less mix, up to the first planting hole. Firm the mix gently, adding more if necessary. Plant each herb through a planting hole.
