Plaster of Paris is a great craft medium for school art projects, clubs and children’s art programs. Many things can be used as molds, with a popular choice being candy molds. These plastic molds come in a variety of designs and make wonderful plaster brooches. Place magnets and pins into the plaster brooches to create small party favors or gifts. Attaching the magnets and pin backs is simple to do and can be accomplished by creating a hard plaster. Fill a paper cup half full with water. Use a plastic spoon to add spoonfuls of Plaster of Paris to the water and mix until it attains the consistency of pancake batter. Spoon in three tablespoons of craft glue and mix thoroughly. The glue will give the plaster a firmer body when dry and a more stable surface to attach magnets and pins to. Pour the plaster mixture into a candy mold.
