How Do You Permanently Delete Icons From System Tray In Windows XP?
The system tray in the bottom right of the screen, shows the icons for active system programs and realistically cannot be removed, unless the program is ended. Programs that load on start-up, such as virus scanners shouldn’t be removed, but many programs can be set so they don’t load on start up, or display in the system tray. You can set most of the icons to be hidden, Right-Click on the toolbar and select Properties. Near the bottom of the window is a tick box for “Hide inactive icons” and a “Customise” button, turn the tick box on. You can use the “Customise” button to set which icons you wish to hide permanently.
