How Do You Perform The Second Training Step In Breaking A Horse?
In my previous article, I told you about the preliminary steps you should take in your training of an unbroken colt. Before I start with the second lesson, I would like to mention that these ideas come from my Dad, AKA CarbyDad. CarbyDad has been riding and training horses for over 50 years. Using the methods that I am now sharing with you, he has successfully taught dozens of people how to ride and train their own horses. After you have completed the steps of the first lesson, you should now have your horse acclimated to his new surroundings. At a minimum, he should be less skittish and relatively comfortable in the stable and breaking pen. Also, he should recognize your voice and respond to it, at least to some degree. This is very important, since this is a new learning experience for the horse, and he has to be able to focus on you and understand what you are trying to communicate to him. In the previous lesson, I mentioned that we use a square breaking pen for training, instead of
