How Do You Perform A Do-It-Yourself Low Thyroid Test?
One of the most widely suffered and least-detected illnesses is low thyroid function or hypothyroidism. Laboratory tests are not sensitive enough to reveal this condition, but a simple test performed in the comfort of your home can change that! This simple test is called the Barnes Basal Temperature Test! Before going to sleep at night shake down a thermometer and place it on the nightstand near the bed. Immediately upon wakening, (NO LATER!) stay in bed and tuck the thermometer snugly in your armpit for 10 minutes. Time it exactly! At the end of the 10 minutes read the thermometer. If your temperature is in the range of 97.8 to 98.2 F, then your thyroid function is probably normal. If your temperature is below 97.8, even a fraction of a degree, then there is a good chance you are hypothyroid. Perform this test two days in a row to ensure accuracy. Women do not perform the test while menstruating. Most alternative medical doctors know about this test and accept its results.
