How Do You Perform A Charleston Swing Dance Move?
The Charleston swing dance move is one that calls back to the very roots of the Lindy Hop style. Though this move is one of the original elements of the Lindy Hop and other swing dance styles, it was one of the first to be abandoned as the style grew more elaborate. Modern swing dancers are encouraged to learn the basics of the Charleston swing dance move as a stepping stone to more complicated moves, many of which would be nearly impossible to grasp without first learning the Charleston dance moves. Lean forward at the waist for proper posture for the Charleston swing dance move. Imagine the same posture you assume when skiing. Begin with the rock step by stepping back with 1 foot on the first beat. Step backward or bring the back foot forward on the second beat to complete the rock step. If you wish to stay in the same spot on the dance floor, you will want to step with the second foot in place while bringing the first foot forward. Otherwise, you will wind up taking a step backward.
