How Do You Perform 2Nd Position In Ballet?
Ballet technique takes you through five basic positions. This is the second of those five. You will need the barre or chair for balance. The mirror and tights are optional, but will help you maintain proper form and get the maximum benefit from these exercises. Stand with your hips perpendicular to the barre. Place one hand on the barre, making sure not to put weight on it. To keep yourself from leaning on the barre, try placing only two fingers on it. Lift your chin slightly and roll your shoulders up, down, and back so your collarbone is visible. Pull in your tummy and tighten your rear end. This will streamline your body and give you perfect posture. Stand tall, as though there is a string attached to your head and it is pulling you up. Twist arms slightly from the elbow as though you are wringing them out. You should feel a stretch in your biceps. Place your feet together, and turn out your legs out so that your feet point to the left and to the right as far as you can get them to.
