How Do You Pass The Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT)?
Preparation is the only method to successfully pass the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT). All candidates must be physically fit to score in the top times which will place you higher on the hiring lists. Candidates must train in several different areas of physical fitness which include flexibility, cardio endurance, muscular strength and endurance. Proper diet habits and hydration are critical. Begin a Cardiopulmonary Endurance Program and Weight Training Circuit Workout at least 6 to 8 weeks before you test. Many books and sites are available and provide detailed instructions on the program and workout. Once your fitness program is about halfway completed add in exercises that simulate the eight (8) stations that will make up the CPAT. The stair climb portion of the test is 3 minutes and is easily practiced with a weight backpack and your staircase at home.
