How do you pair an Emerson EM230 bluetooth headset with a phone?

I have an Emerson EM230 Bluetooth headset and I’m trying to link it with the phone. I know the code “0000″, but somehow turn the headset in pairing mode. My phone is waiting to par, but nothing seems to come from the headset. I tried a number of different key combinations and nothing seems to work. Please help!
