How Do You Paint With Bright Colors?
The Paint Quality Institute’s color trend predictions over the last several years have included bright paint colors, including lime green, citrus yellow, orange and apple red. As more people choose jewel tones to provide a pop of color in their homes, paint jobs have become a little more challenging. You can’t always paint one or two coats of a bright colored paint and expect perfection. You might need specialized primers, and creating straight lines and flawless finishes are more difficult. Read the color description on the paint swatch. If it’s marked “low hide” or has to be mixed in an ultra-deep or neutral base, chances are it will take multiple coats to hide, and you’ll need a high-hiding primer. Ask paint store staff what type of primer you will need to the paint. While gray primer is often sold as a base coat for bright colors, some paint companies have colored primers. For instance, you may be able to purchase a red primer for bright red paint, or a blue one for blue paint. Buy
