How Do You Paint Walls & Trim?
A couple of fresh coats of paint on walls and trim is an easy way to breathe life into a room. It is not difficult to paint walls and trim yourself. However, there are some steps you should take to make the job go faster and easier. Good preparation will mean less time spent on cleanup and much less time spent fixing mistakes. Clean all surfaces that are to be painted. You can usually do this simply by wiping them down with a wet sponge. Place wide strips of masking tape along all edges of trim (and the ceiling) that meet the walls. This is important even if you are painting the trim the same color as the walls. By protecting trim with masking tape, you avoid paint drips and splashes, which may dry before you paint the trim (resulting in an uneven painting surface).
