How Do You Paint Trim On A House?
Painting a house is a big task. Even though your house may have less trim than siding, painting the trim may take just as long to complete. Take your time and your newly painted house is bound to be the best looking home on the block. Choose your paint. Painting the trim with a semi-gloss or gloss finish helps to set off the flat color used on the siding. Also this type finish tends to be more durable. While you’re at the paint store, remember to pick up brushes and painter’s masking tape. Scrape any loose paint from the trim. Remove screens from the windows. Caulk windows as needed. Make sure the caulking is dry before painting over it. Tape papers over the windows to keep paint drips off them. Paint the window sashes and frames. You may need to give the windowsills an extra coat of paint. Open the windows enough so that the paint doesn’t dry them shut permanently. Paint the frames of the window screens if they have wooden frames. It’s also a good time to mend holes in the screens. Ta
