Painting a baseboard the same color as the wall can provide a cohesive look to a room. Although some people prefer the standard design of an off-white baseboard, a unified color scheme can create a strong, modern design. Clean the baseboard with a rag and all-purpose cleaner. Dust and grime that accumulate on a baseboard can lead to an uneven paint job. Lay plastic on the ground next to the wall, covering ample workspace away from the wall.
