How Do You Paint Open Floor Plans?
Open floor plans are the hot trend in home design today. Not only are builders constructing new homes with fewer walls in common areas, but homeowners are also knocking down existing walls in order to achieve that “great room” look of light and spaciousness. There are four fundamental approaches to painting that one big open space in a way that is not monotonous and brings more variety of color into the picture. Look for architectural transitions. Just because there are few walls separating a great room, does not mean the room is completely devoid of “different” spaces, and these may be marked in various ways. Floor coverings may change from the kitchen area to the living room area, for example. Steps or bulkheads would be another example.
