How Do You Paint A Ceramic Wall Sconce?
Do you have a boring, white wall sconce that you would like to brighten up with a little paint? Painting ceramic, whether it’s a wall fixture, pottery or ceramic tile, is all painted using a similar process. Using the correct paint, you can get a terrific, long lasting finish. For the best results, choose an oil based paint in high gloss or semi gloss. Water based paints will peel easily from ceramic surfaces. Clean the ceramic sconce thoroughly using a mildly abrasive bathroom cleaner. Get the sconce really clean to avoid grease and particles from interfering with the paint. Lightly sand the surface of the sconce with fine grit sand paper. Sanding will create texture that will allow the paint to adhere to the ceramic. Use a damp rag to wipe off any sanding dust. Brush on paint using a good quality paint brush. Use thin, even strokes and avoid feathering at the end of your brush stroke.
