The British Open is the world’s oldest national sports championship. Attending it is a highlight for any golf fan. However, you will enjoy the event more if you take the following advice when packing your bags. Develop an understanding of layering clothes because weather conditions on seaside links courses can change dramatically in a short period of time. Invest in a lightweight 100 percent waterproof jacket and rain pants. Pack at least one all-weather short-sleeved undergarment and one with long sleeves. This is the first basic requirement for “layering.” Take two each of short-sleeved and long-sleeved polo golf shirts. Pack one cotton vest and one short-sleeved water-proof vest. Pack two pairs each of lightweight and heavy golf slacks and one pair of quality khaki Bermuda shorts (NOT the short American shorts–you’ll stand out like a sore thumb). Decide if you want to take a sweater with you or buy one there. They can be pricey but they will be of a high quality and a souvenir from
