How Do You Overclock An AMD Athlon XP 2500?
The Athlon XP 2500 is a processor with a single CPU core that runs at a fairly slow 1.83GHz, far below the standards for performance set by current processors. Increase the clock speed of your XP 2500 and ramp up its performance through the computer’s BIOS, allowing you to force a bit of extra life out of the aging beast. This takes less than 10 minutes to do. Restart your computer. Press the key indicated in the start-up message, typically one of the function keys, to enter the BIOS. Highlight the “Advanced” menu and press “Enter.” Click “FSB Frequency” and press “Enter.” Input a new value roughly five to ten points higher than the old one. Press “F10” to exit and save changes. Use your computer for a few days to determine if the XP2500 is stable at the new speed. Repeat the procedure, increasing its clock speed once more, if no crashes occur.
