How Do You Open Champagne Bottles With A Sword?
Sabrage is the art of opening a champagne bottle with a sword or saber. The sword is used to completely remove the cork and the glass above the lip of the bottle. This technique relies in part on the pressure inside the champagne bottle to help open it. There is a chance of getting shattered glass in the champagne bottle if done improperly. Chill the champagne bottle to between 45 and 48 degrees Fahrenheit. It is important that the neck of the bottle also is chilled, not just the liquid inside. Remove the foil and wire cage around the cork of the bottle. Hold the bottle in your hand horizontal to the ground with the seam of the bottle facing upward. This is the line that runs vertically along the side of the bottle. Slide the blade of the sword along the seam of the bottle. It should forcefully hit the lip of the bottle, which will cause it to fly off of the bottle.
