It takes a fair amount of practice, but it is possible to use a piece of 8.5″ x 11″ paper to open a bottle of beer when a bottle opener is unavailable. Just follow these instructions, take your time, be careful and practice until you get it right. First, you have to fashion your paper into a makeshift bottle opener. Holding the paper upright, fold it in half horizontally. Turn it 90 degrees, then fold it in half horizontally again. Turn it another 90 degrees and give it another fold. With each of these folds, make sure you’re getting nice, sharp, sturdy corners. Fold it in half twice more, paying particular attention to the rigidity of the corners.
