The Kirin Tor Familiar is an extremely rare and special non-combat (“companion”) pet obtainable in World of Warcraft by completing the “Higher Learning” achievement. This time-consuming achievement can be easily accomplished with some patience, solid tracking skills, and an understanding of what is required. Achieving “Higher Learning” requires that you read (right-click) on eight books scattered throughout the city of Dalaran. These books spawn in a static location once every 3 to 4 hours. Either the book itself (a “School of Higher Learning” book) or a random meaningless book will spawn. Once either book is read, that book will vanish into thin-air in 3 minutes, and the respawn timer of 3 to 4 hours will start once again.
