How Do You Nominate A Jockey For The Racing Hall Of Fame?
Horse racing is often referred to as “the sport of kings.” While it is arguably the sport of kings, the real kings of the sport are the jockeys. Often underappreciated for their athletic abilities jockey must possess incredible endurance coupled with great strength and agility. Luckily, the racing hall of fame recognizes their accomplishment but first the jockey must be nominated. Understand that a jockey becomes eligible for the Racing Hall of Fame after racing thoroughbreds for more than 20 years. The jockey will remain eligible for 25 years. After that eligibility expires the jockey may be considered for enshrinement by the veterans committee. Know that the 20-year requirement may be waived under special circumstances such as fragile health as determined by the hall of fame executive committee.
