Motion is the powerful text editing software included in the Final Cut Pro suite. It can be used to add many amazing effects to video beyond text, though. Usually, entire title sequences are created in Motion. Using Motion is easier than ever given the quick movement of clips between Motion and Final Cut Pro. Render the project, and save it to preserve a back up copy. Select the desired footage in the Timeline or, if it is a single clip, in the resource list of the Browser pane. Click the “File” command, and then highlight “Send To” and “Motion” Project. Enter the name the sequence should be saved under and where a back up copy of the file should be stored in the Export Selection to Motion Project pane that appears. By default, Launch “Motion” and Embed “Motion” Content will be selected and this should not be changed unless the file is being prepared for later use of Motion.
