• Become a foreign language student in the new country. It will provide you with a base, a place to live, an immediate circle of like-minded people, and native teachers who can introduce you to the society and culture. • Use your language skills. For example, teach English if you are anglophone – teach or tutor others, thereby extending your network. While you are in the country you will have the chance to meet people in different lines of work and understand which skills are needed in that country. • Join a missionary organization. Usually no skills are needed but often a religious interest is necessary. • Take a vacation to target country and network while there. Find employment in your home country (airlines are great) and look for a transfer opportunity. If you don’t have such employment already, call them up and let them know where you are based and sell yourself as being a good opportunity for them to employ as a resident in that country with knowledge of the company’s home-base
