How Do You Move A Candle In Front Of A Concave Mirror?
You can perform a neat little experiment to see how light travles and how it is reflected off of different mirrors. There are three different kinds of mirrors, a flat mirror, a concave mirror, and a convex mirror. The concave mirror is curved inward and typically found in flashlights as reflectors and in high powered telescopes. Light the candle. The candle can be any shape or size, although typically the thinner the candle the better. Turn off the lights of the room. Hold the mirror roughly the distance of the focal length away from the candle. On the opposite side of the candle position a white flash card an equal distance away. Position the concave mirror so it reflects the light onto the card. You can see the outline of the flame positioned right side up. Move the concave mirror back to about twice the candle’s focal length and realign it to reflect the light onto the flash card. You can still see the reflected light, however this time it is inverted; the light from the image appea
