How Do You Mountain Bike Through Water?
In mountain biking, the only thing better than drinking water is riding through it. It’s time to get wet! Make sure the water isn’t too deep. If it looks like it’s more than half the height of your wheel, walk. Look for any obvious obstacles beneath the water, such as submerged logs or large rocks. Shift into an easy gear before you hit the water. Stay low to make balancing easier. Pedal fast as your front wheel enters the water. Continue pedaling the whole way through. If you stop pedaling, you’ll come to a quick halt and may fall in. Pedal all the way out of the water. Keep your weight over your rear wheel to ensure good traction. Consider adding fenders to your bike, to minimize spray and help keep you dry.
