How Do You Mediate A Student/Teacher Relationship?
If your child doesn’t like his teacher, then you realize the significant effect this can have on your child’s educational experience. Your child can lose out on learning important skills. Furthermore, poor interactions between a student and teacher can result in poor self-esteem and poor peer interactions. Fortunately, there are things you can do to help a child who doesn’t like her teacher. You may not end up with a perfect relationship, but the relationship should be better. Ask your child what his teacher does that is so bothersome. Your goal is to get your child to give you specifics. If your child says, “My teacher is mean,” then ask your child, “What does your teacher do that is mean?” This questioning will help establish whether your child’s assertions are real or exaggerated. Discuss each of your child’s concerns with your child and offer reasonable explanations.
