How Do You Measure Gallons Per Flush In Toilets?
Many toilets come with estimates on how much water is used per flush. Generally the toilet’s gallons per flush are printed on the porcelain directly behind the seat. However, sometimes this information isn’t entirely accurate or is hard to find. The best way to figure out how many gallons per flush your toilet uses is to simply measure it. It couldn’t be easier. Turn off the water to your toilet so that it will not refill on its own when you flush it during this experiment. Take the lid off of the tank in the back of the toilet. Use the masking tape to mark the top of the water line inside the tank, as well as the water line inside the bowl. Flush the toilet. Use the empty gallon jug to refill the toilet tank until the water level reaches the masking tape inside the tank.
