How Do You Measure For Fascia Boards?
Fascia boards can offer a fairly easy way to protect the exterior of your home and its gutters, but they must be properly measured and cut to be effective. Whether you decide to go with vinyl, wood or aluminum fascia, the process for measuring it is the same. Place a ladder against your house to get up close to the areas where you’ll be adding the fascia. Start with your tape measure at one end of an exterior wall and measure until you reach a change in height. If you already have rain gutters installed, then you can use their length as a rough estimate for how much fascia you need to buy. Use a sliding t-bevel tool to correctly measure the angles of your fascia. Tighten the tool as much as possible when taking a measurement to get an accurate reading. Add 1 to 2 inches to the length of each fascia piece that will reach an angle. This extra room will give you more leeway as you cut the boards’ ends to fit and match the gradient.
