How do you market to Gen Z?

0

Back in the day, the majority of marketing challenges usually focused on how to market to millennials. Nowadays, the tide has shifted, and more emphasis is being placed on how to market to Gen Z.

Having spent a great deal of time doing this, I have some insights on the subject. In my time working in the Gen Z department as part of a large digital marketing agency, the first thing I learned was that to get through to Gen Z, the message has to be channel specific.

The one size fits all approach that worked well for previous generations simply doesn’t work at all here. Content that works on LinkedIn will most definitely not work for TikTok, and this in turn will not work on Facebook.

Secondly, as the attention span continues to shorten by the day, brevity is a key part of any Gen Z-targeted marketing campaign. Simply put, always keep it short, and as a bonus, ensure that you focus on video content as much as possible.

Thirdly, when it comes to this specific kind of marketing, mobile is key. And because mobile is key, mobile optimization is key. That is not to say that you can’t create verticals for other mediums, but ensure that you make them flexible enough to adapt to mobile use.

Furthermore, Gen Z cherishes transparency and accountability. Naturally, the era of gimmicks and posturing has had its moment. Most of the marketing tricks that used to work have become stilted and too familiar. Nowadays, transparency is the new trick.

As the professionals at Kadence advise, if there’s something Gen Z wants, it’s a face they can trust. And that’s why influencer marketing works so much for this particular demographic.

Anyway, these are my two cents on the matter. Feel free to visit this page for more information on the subject.
