The best known parade in the world goes through Pasadena California every New Year’s Day as the Rose Parade continues its long tradition of breathtaking floats. And in between those floats are people who get to march in the Rose Parade, including marching bands from schools all around the world. With some planning, and practice you could join them. Start early. The Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association takes applications from equestrian units and marching bands with a deadline of June a year and a half before the parade. If you are selected, your band will get more than a year to practice and raise money before actually marching in the Rose Parade. Prepare your application package. To march in the Rose Bowl, you’ll be asked to submit detailed information about your group or school, as well as performance video, audio, a color photo of your group and letters of recommendation.
