As you work with different aspects of audio editing in Premiere Pro, a more advanced feature is to map channels of audio tracks before you add a clip to a Timeline sequence. Mapping allows you to choose exactly which channel multichannel tracks go to, giving you greater controls over stereo or 5.1 surround. Mapping is done using the “Source Channel Mappings” command. Choose the audio clip from within the Project panel. Go to the Clip menu at the top of your workspace, then select “Audio Options” and “Source Channel Mappings.” The Source Channel Mappings pop-up box will open. Map the audio to another track by selecting the format you want it to go to (mono, stereo, 5.1 and so forth). Enable or disable specific channels once you have audio in new channels.
