How Do You Manually Light A Pilot In A Gas Oven?
Manually lighting a pilot light on a gas oven is a simple job that can be done in just a few minutes. The oven has an upper and lower pilot light, and occasionally one or both of them can be blown out by an interruption in the gas supply to the oven. Being safe not to light the pilot light with gas fumes remaining in the air will allow you to prevent any damage to the oven or your surroundings. You can light the pilot light yourself and save the expense of having someone else light it for you. Verify that the gas line is open to the oven pilot light by looking at the shutoff valve and determining that the valve is running parallel to the gas line. Check to see that all burner control knobs are set to the “off” position and lift the grates and cover off the top of the oven, setting them off to the side. Light the pilot light in the center of the oven top with a spark ignitor until the pilot stays lit and replace the oven cover and grates. Turn each burner control knob on for a moment to
