How Do You Manually Download A Virus Definition File From Norton?

0

Virus definition files update your Norton Antivirus software with the latest computer virus threats. Antivirus software only protects you from the viruses it recognizes on the computer. As new viruses are created, the antivirus program does not recognize them until you update the definition files. Symantec’s Norton Antivirus has an automated system that downloads these viruses automatically. However, you can also manually download and install them on your computer. Open your Web browser and navigate to the definition file download start page on Symantec (see the Resources section of this article). Select “Norton AntiVirus for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7” from the list of products in the “Select Product” drop-down box. Click the file name in the section for your Norton Antivirus version. This starts the download process. Click “Save” in the Web browser dialog box. Enter a location to save your antivirus file.
