One of the hardest things about marriage is finances. Money is constantly an issue. It’s important to be on the same page regarding your goals and have a realistic plan on how you are going to obtain it. Pull your credit reports. Gather your bills. Get your pay stubs. Get your bank statement. You need to know what money is coming in and where it is going. Sit down with your significant other for a budget meeting. Discuss your goals; both long and short term. Write them down and post them in a visible place. Outline some ideas on what you need to do to get there. Some ideas for goals would be vacations, vehicles, home ownership and retirement. Some ideas on how to get there would be savings accounts and IRAs. Decide how you want to handle the everyday expenses.
