How Do You Make Yogurt And Cucumber Salad (Tzatziki)?
Called tzatziki in Greece, this tangy cucumber yogurt salad has made its popularity as a sauce, commonly paired with Greek Gyros.Serve as a salad with French bread or grilled or toasted pita or just serve it over lettuce and tomato as a side salad.Commonly paired with Greek olives and wine in Greece. Try to make it one day in advance so the flavors have time to meld. Peel the cucumber, cut it in half lengthwise and remove the seeds. Dice the cucumber and sit on a paper towel for 30 minutes to absorb the excess moisture. Place the diced cucumber and all of the rest of the (tzatziki) cucumber yogurt salad in a bowl and mix thoroughly. Cover the bowl and place in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours. Serve chilled. Tzatziki makes an excellent topping for gyros, grilled chicken, baked potatoes or just on its own as a dip for crisp fresh vegetables.
