How Do You Make Wooden Window Valance Boxes?
A valance made from wood will add character to any room and make your windows pop with smooth tones. It’s easy to do and takes just one afternoon. Adding a decorative wood treatment gives depth to a room whether used by itself or partnered with curtains or blinds. A trip to the hardware store lets you complete a budget-friendly makeover and breathe life back into a boring window frame. Measure your window frame. Start at the outer left corner and end at the outer right corner. Add 4 inches to this number and write it down. Cut a piece of 1-by-4-inch board using this measurement. Cut two more pieces of 1-by-4-inch board based on the height you want for your valance. On average, this should be 8 to 18 inches. These will be sidepieces for the four-piece frame. Lay the top board, the first one you cut, on its side. Position each of the sideboards, on either side of it at a 90-degree angle. Think of a sawhorse or a bench. Drill pilot holes for screws then use wood glue to attach the boards.
