Wire can be fashioned into beautiful jewelry by making a series of intricate knots. Once you learn the simple bending process for one knot, you can attempt many others. Forming rings from wire is a fascinating craft form that can be done with very few hand tools. Practice first on inexpensive wire purchased at the hardware store before moving on to sterling silver wire. Measure 4 1/2 inches of wire and cut. Set the remaining wire aside for later use. Measure 1/2 inch in from one end of the wire and mark on the wire with the marker. Measure in 1 inch from the same end and mark it on the wire. Set the 1-inch mark on the mandrel at the size 18 mark. Bend the first inch of wire around the mandrel. Take the opposite end of the wire and pull it down and around the mandrel.
