This recipe makes a fairly small amount of wheat free modeling clay, so you may want to make a couple of batches in different colors. You can find food coloring in the spice section of most grocery stores. Most stores carry the basic red, yellow and blue, which you can mix to make other colors. Some stores also offer green, orange or neon colors. You can vary the shade of each color by how many drops of food coloring you add. Mix 1 cup of salt with 1/3 cup of water. Pour the salt and water mixture into the medium saucepan. Heat the salt and water over medium heat for about 4 minutes, stirring the mixture about every minute.
