Incorporate cultural traditions into your wedding if you and your spouse-to-be both feel they are important. You can use a cultural tradition, such as the African-American “Jumping the Broom” tradition, as a theme for the entire wedding. Tie it all together by making miniature brooms to pass out as favors to commemorate your special day. Decorate your broom favors in colors that coordinate with your wedding. Purchase or cut wooden dowels to 6 inches. These will serve as your broom handles. Cut the straw so it’s about 2 inches long. Create little bundles of the straw, fanning it out until you have enough to create the broom size you want. Each little bundle will make one broom. Dab hot glue on one side of the wooden dowel, where you will attach the straw. Hold the smaller end of your straw bundle between your thumb and finger to hold it together.
