How Do You Make Valances With Foam?
Dressing up your windows is easy and inexpensive with foam valances. Whether you want to wrap a big block of foam with fabric or cut out shapes in color foam, the possibilities are endless. How about a foam valance for the kitchen window made of giant strawberries or grapes and leaves? Draw a giant strawberry on a piece of paper. Make a smaller strawberry paper shape too. Draw leaves in two sizes for paper patterns. Cut out the shapes. Trace the strawberry patterns on red craft foam. For a 5-foot window, you’ll need six or seven big strawberries and four smaller ones. Trace the leaf shapes on green and lighter green craft foam. Make 10 large leaves, and 10 smaller ones. Cut all the shapes out of the color foam. Add small black dots randomly on the strawberries, and draw light veins on the leaves. Arrange the cut out shapes on the floor or a big surface to design the pattern you want.
