Tie-dying uses fabric dyes to create colorful designs and patterns on just about anything, from T-shirts to tote bags, shorts to tank tops. Not only does this make an appropriate project to do with your kids, but it’s also a way to liven up those old T-shirts in the back of the drawer. Place rubber bands around a T-shirt. This can be done in various ways to create different patterns and designs. For a star burst design, roll shirt up starting at either the neck or the side. Place rubber bands around the rolled up shirt at different widths apart. To create lines, pull up the front of the shirt only, twist into a roll, and place rubber bands around it at different intervals; repeat for the back of the shirt.
