How Do You Make Tick Microscope Slides?

0

Ticks are small insects that latch onto dogs, cats and other animals and suck the host animal’s blood to live. Ticks are rather fascinating to view under a microscope, as they can introduce the viewer to a whole new world. Preparing microscope slides with ticks is not too difficult, but it may take a little time to master the process properly. Put one or two drops of the immersion oil on the microscope slide using a pipette. Carefully cut the tick into smaller sections using a scalpel or razor blade, making sure you are working on a clean surface. The thinner the pieces of the tick, the more detail you will be able to see under the microscope. Place a small piece of the tick onto the glass microscope slide, directly in the drop of immersion oil. Carefully put the cover slip over the prepared slide and view the slide under the microscope.
